Emma Lengquist was a big-time advocate that special needs people were just like you and I…maybe with a few extra glitches. She knew that people were afraid to approach her at first because she walked so much differently than everyone else. She knew the looks she got when she would fall down in the days before surgeries made her legs work better.
Emma did not like that those physical differences or appearances would make people hesitate…a perfectly normal reaction for many. She worked hard to get people to know her, not her disabilities. She wanted you to take the time to get to know people for who they were, not who they weren’t.
Wise for such a young lady.
